About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise all guest interactive areas
  • Provide detailed information on aquatic inventory when needed
  • Staff the Powerwalk, Ray Bay touch tank, Jellies touch tank, and classroom as needed
  • Understand aquatic life in the various tanks, including proper handling of animals in touch areas
  • Monitor touch areas for guest behavior and relay handling methods to guests to ensure guest and animal safety
  • Operate a point-of-sale system
  • Greet and interact with guests
  • Aid camps and programs as needed
  • Potentially assist with community outreach, overnight camps, and educational ventures into the public-school system
  • Report to the Director of Education

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel in order to access stations and assist guests
  • Must be able to stand for periods of 7-8 hours while directing guests
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • 1-2 years’ experience in public speaking or Biology/Marine Science
  • BS/BA degree
  • Ability to teach educational classes about marine science/aquatic life in a classroom setting and virtually using Zoom or another platform
  • Outgoing and friendly personality
