About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide legal services across a high volume of commercial and transactional matters
- Own matters end-to-end on a lean, fast-moving team
- Apply broad business perspective to legal analysis and solutions
- Coordinate across business and legal functions to deliver results
- Represent Company interests in commercial contracts and transactions, business development, finance, litigation, renewable energy, and decarbonization matters
- Independently manage commercial contracts and transactions
- Resolve increasingly complex and sensitive matters
- Research legal issues and draft and negotiate legal documents
- Manage outside counsel
- Provide work guidance to professional, paraprofessional, or support staff
- Negotiate complex commercial transactions with counterparties
- Advise business partners on complex issues and risk using independent legal judgment
- Collaborate across all levels of the business with minimal supervision
- Handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited law school
- Admitted to the state bar of permanent residence within a reasonable time
- At least seven (7) years of legal experience
- Ability to work in a team and/or matrix structure, supporting multiple clients, procedures, and policy
- Ability to cope with multiple demands from superiors, peers, and subordinates in a positive and even-handed fashion
- Calm demeanor under pressure
- Competence in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, issues, or projects
- Ability to support high-visibility initiatives requiring innovation, teamwork, and planning
- Ability to initiate new ideas and approaches and propose sound alternatives
- Exceptional verbal and non-verbal communication, written, and presentation skills
- Analytic and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting M&A, due diligence, or corporate transactions
- Supply chain, procurement, or vendor contracting experience
- Experience drafting, structuring, and negotiating commercial energy transactions
- Comfort evaluating and responsibly deploying AI and legal technology tools while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professional responsibility
