About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage technical aspects of project development from inception through construction initiation, with continued support through startup and closeout
  • Screen projects to determine technical viability
  • Incorporate personnel safety and environmental awareness into designs
  • Facilitate development and review of EPC specifications and drawings
  • Prepare formal RFP packages and manage competitive bidding, including proposal evaluation and contractor/vendor selection
  • Develop cost estimates and expenditure forecasts for management review
  • Review, manage, and organize technical project documentation to protect the owner’s technical and financial position
  • Coordinate performance test procedure development and evaluate test results
  • Oversee contractors, consultants, engineers, vendors, and government agencies to complete projects within scope, schedule, and budget
  • Perform technical due diligence for acquisition efforts
  • Travel to project sites and perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 8 or more years of experience as a project engineer, project manager, or construction manager
  • Power industry experience, particularly with gas turbines and gas/electrical interconnects
  • Carbon Capture experience is a plus, particularly compression and carbon capture well drilling and sequestration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project in a Windows environment
  • Knowledge of Procore Project Management Software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team without significant supervision
  • Ability to manage budgets, project costs, and schedules
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with coworkers, suppliers, contractors, vendors, engineering firms, and customers
  • Willingness to share expertise and acquire new technical skills
  • Ability to function within a matrix organization
  • Must live within a commutable distance from DTE’s Detroit, MI headquarters
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the continental United States, generally 10% to 30%, potentially exceeding 75% during startup
