About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take ownership of DuckDuckGo’s design system and define its roadmap from the ground up
Audit the existing design system
Lead design-system projects across platforms and products including Duck.ai and Search
Shape processes for managing and scaling the design system
Autonomously lead high-impact projects serving millions of users
Collaborate with team members at all levels to develop privacy-focused solutions
Assess ambiguous problems, propose high-impact solutions, and execute against success criteria
Contribute to product-related design decisions
Communicate visual and interaction recommendations through mockups, prototypes, documentation, metrics, and rationale
Collaborate across design and engineering practices to establish shared workflows and nomenclature

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of experience in product or design systems roles
2+ years in senior-level design positions at significant global consumer brands
Demonstrable track record of building and scaling complex and established systems
Ability to lead design-system audits, recommend solutions, and plan rollouts
Ability to communicate recommendations and prioritization with clear documentation, success metrics, resources, and rationale
Ability to create scalable frameworks, including tokens and libraries, across platforms and teams
Deep knowledge of design tools such as Figma
Experience bridging design and engineering practices, including shared nomenclature and workflows
Experience applying agentic and AI-driven solutions to design-system management and maintenance workflows
Ability to produce high-quality mockups, prototypes, and rationale
Ability to manage ambiguity, propose innovative solutions, and execute with a focus on metrics
Required to attend meetings on camera via video conferencing
Average full-time commitment of 40 hours per week
Must pass a background check as a condition of joining
