About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage strategic issues and cultivate relationships with Duke Energy’s largest and most complex commercial and industrial customers
- Enhance customer satisfaction, strengthen external partnerships, build customer advocacy, and identify earnings-growth opportunities
- Develop and execute strategies supporting business objectives, policy priorities, and reputation management
- Establish and maintain relationships at all levels within customer organizations
- Advise customers on rate structures, billing options, demand response programs, and renewable options
- Lead negotiations and resolve customer issues as primary decision maker
- Own and coordinate the entire customer relationship with internal departments and senior leadership
- Partner with economic development teams to identify and manage new projects or expansions
- Identify and position technical products and service solutions
- Manage sales processes from needs assessment through solution delivery
- Coordinate customer service projects and load growth opportunities
- Develop and execute strategic plans and project action plans
- Monitor and communicate market trends, forecasts, and environmental and regulatory developments
- Serve as primary liaison between customers and internal teams
- Provide outage information and restoration updates during emergency and storm events
- Educate customers on regulatory and legislative matters and emerging technologies
- Maintain technical knowledge of industrial processes, energy delivery methods, electric systems, and customer systems
- Support internal cross-functional teams in developing solutions for large business customers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree AND five (5) years minimum required related experience
- In lieu of degree(s) and experience listed above: High School/GED AND nine (9) years minimum required related experience
- Ability to pass the CEM certification test
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
- Experience managing relationships with large and complex customers and/or key stakeholders
- Ability to develop results-oriented business relationships
- Extensive knowledge of electric distribution and transmission systems and grid operations
- Knowledge of customer-side energy distribution and energy-consuming systems and processes
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills
- Business development experience
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously
- Effective analytical, problem identification, and resolution skills
- Ability to maintain composure during highly stressful situations
- Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate resources in a matrixed organization
- Proven self-starter with a results-oriented mindset and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to engage 24/7 for emergent customer needs
- Ability to live within a reasonable commute, not greater than 50 miles one way, to the posted reporting location
- Travel requirements: 15–25%
