About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage strategic issues and cultivate relationships with Duke Energy’s largest and most complex commercial and industrial customers
- Enhance customer satisfaction, strengthen external partnerships, build customer advocacy, and identify opportunities to grow earnings
- Develop and execute strategies supporting company business objectives, policy priorities, and reputation management
- Establish and maintain relationships within customer organizations for long-term engagement and strategic alignment
- Apply knowledge of rate structures, billing options, demand response programs, and renewable options
- Lead negotiations and resolve customer issues
- Own and coordinate the entire customer relationship with internal departments and senior leadership
- Partner with the economic development team to identify and manage potential projects or expansions
- Identify and position technical products and service solutions
- Manage the sales process from needs assessment through solution delivery
- Coordinate customer service projects and load growth opportunities
- Develop and execute strategic plans and action plans
- Monitor and communicate market trends, forecasts, environmental and regulatory developments
- Serve as liaison between customers and internal teams to deliver solutions
- Support customers during emergencies and storm events with outage and restoration updates
- Educate customers on regulatory and legislative matters, trends, technologies, and industry developments
- Maintain technical knowledge of industrial processes, energy end uses, electric systems, transmission, and distribution systems
- Support internal cross-functional teams in developing solutions for large business customers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- Five (5) years minimum required related experience
- In lieu of degree(s) and experience listed above, High School/GED AND eight (8) years minimum required related experience
- Extensive knowledge of electric distribution and transmission systems and grid operations
- Knowledge of customer-side energy distribution and energy-consuming systems and processes
- Excellent interpersonal skills including communication skills, presentation skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Business development experience
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability and flexibility to effectively manage and facilitate multiple projects and issues simultaneously
- Effective analytical, problem identification and resolution skills
- Ability to maintain composure and clarity of thought and purpose when confronted with highly stressful situations
- Ability to work in a team environment to coordinate resources in a matrixed organization to meet customer expectations
- Proven self-starter, with a results-oriented mindset, capable of taking initiative and driving tasks to completion with minimal supervision
- Knowledge and capability to pass the CEM certification test
- In lieu of requirements: HS/GED + 9 years of work experience or Associates + 7 years of work experience
- Ability to engage 24/7 for response and resolution of emergent customer needs
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
- Ability to report to the assigned Duke Energy facility as required, on average 3 full workdays per regular workweek
