About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate, investigate, and assemble information for Bulk Electric System transmission projects before commissioning and initial energization
- Lead the region’s Facility Energization Ratings Team (FERT)
- Coordinate installed component verifications following construction involving BES components
- Provide routine meetings and contact points for Facility Ratings Coordinators regarding installation, component, and ratings questions
- Lead bi-weekly Midwest FERT meetings and participate in enterprise bi-weekly FERT coordinator touch-base meetings
- Develop schedules, monitor work, coordinate resources, and resolve procedural problems associated with energizing BES assets
- Lead documentation and verification of FAC-008 component inventories before commissioning and energization
- Interface with Transmission Engineering, Asset Management, System Operations, Transmission Planning, Work Management, and Project Management
- Document lessons learned to improve NERC O&P Transmission Level Procedures and the Facility Energization Process
- Adhere to the Transmission Level Procedure to ensure FAC-008 compliance
- Review, take, and release outage holds within Duke Energy’s TOA Outage Tracking tool
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree in Project Management, Business, Information Technology, or Engineering Technology and 7 years of related work experience
- Alternatively, High School/GED and 9 years of related work experience
- Alternatively, Bachelor degree with 5 years of work experience
- Must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
- Substation construction and maintenance experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field from ABET accredited college or university
- Professional Engineer license
- Working knowledge of transmission line, substation, and protection & controls engineering facilities and equipment
- Familiarity with transmission and distribution systems
- Broad knowledge of overall company operations
- Demonstrated leadership abilities including decision making, delivering results, and navigating change
- Self-motivated with strong collaboration and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills combined with tenacity and persistence
- Ability to manage complex transitional issues through innovation and teamwork
- Familiarity with or working knowledge of NERC Standard FAC-008 and Transmission Level Procedures related to FAC-008
- Expertise with Duke Energy TOA Outage Tracking tool
- Expertise with SharePoint maintenance, Power App, and Power Automate
- Hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute, not greater than 50 miles one way, to the designated Duke Energy facility
