About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide guidance on vehicle/equipment specifications, preventive maintenance practices, and manufacturer/vendor selection
  • Manage annual fleet replacements and acquisitions for assigned asset types
  • Support vehicle/equipment purchasing agreements and contracts
  • Provide technical guidance on specifications, modifications, and vendor/manufacturer selection
  • Act as project manager through ordering, manufacturing, delivery, and upfitting
  • Develop fleet inventory reports and process vehicle/equipment reassignments in the Fleet Management system
  • Develop communications regarding campaigns, recalls, diagnostics, and other technical items
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications and preventive maintenance practices
  • Support standards teams in providing safe, reliable vehicles and equipment
  • Support dealer, manufacturer, and supplier relationships, including ordering, production tracking, expediting, and parts procurement
  • Maintain relationships with departmental management and contacts to meet customer needs
  • Support long-range Fleet Services business plans aligned with company strategy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 years' relevant experience or 4 years' equivalent industry experience
  • Working knowledge of vehicle systems, operations, applications, and specifications
  • Ability to interpret federal, state, and regulatory requirements applicable to fleet operations, including DOT, ANSI, and OSHA
  • Knowledge of Maximo and Fleet Mobile App
  • Familiarity with Duke Energy Sedgwick Claims Administration
  • Strong negotiation and customer relationship skills
  • Experience or equivalent training diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel engine vehicles, hydraulic mobile equipment, and pneumatic and electronic systems
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future
  • 5–15% travel availability
