About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Generating Station Distributed Control Systems
- Provide technical support for operations, maintenance, and projects across multiple generation technologies and geographic regions
- Provide technical support for control systems at coal, natural gas, solar, and bulk energy storage generation facilities
- Work with plant operations and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot equipment
- Coordinate communication with external DCS Original Equipment Manufacturer support groups
- Coordinate fleet-level guidance with internal station and regional DCS support personnel
- Own fleet-level standards, practices, and procedures
- Solve complex engineering problems, manage work, and provide leadership to others
- Serve in lead roles and provide guidance to others while working independently
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program and PE required
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
- A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree
- Skilled in engineering theories and principles
- Skilled in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Skilled in principles of project management
- Experience in the utility industry
- Experience with design, construction, commissioning, and/or process engineering support for generation facilities
- Experience with utility industry process control and automation equipment
- Experience with Emerson Ovation, Siemens T3000, or GE Mark VIe DCS equipment
- Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
- Willingness to travel 15–25% within the home region and 5–10% to other regions
