About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical management for all phases of project planning and execution
  • Manage DCS purchase, control-system design, and commissioning for projects
  • Provide technical leadership and management for a matrixed team of engineers and technical staff
  • Specify and procure Emerson DCS equipment
  • Develop and review control logic and graphics
  • Lead hardware and software factory acceptance testing
  • Support major-project scope development and EPC bid-package development
  • Support transmission interconnection design and align contract documentation with interconnection scope
  • Support cost estimates, schedules, risk analyses, bid evaluations, and contract development
  • Provide engineering oversight for project requirements, contracts, and design criteria
  • Participate in design and drawing reviews, construction support, technical RFI resolution, commissioning, and warranty support
  • Oversee construction and programming of site controls and cybersecurity assets
  • Maintain compliance with applicable industry standards
  • Provide onsite engineering support for construction and commissioning
  • Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
  • Conduct engineering and related studies
  • Independently manage project schedules and interfaces
  • Design, operate, and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems
  • Maintain accurate records and files and coordinate work activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program and/or PE
  • State registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
  • A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree
  • Strong working knowledge of Emerson Ovation control system and Allen–Bradley PLCs
  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles
  • Understanding of engineering and design research practices, evaluating alternatives, making recommendations, and presenting recommendations
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Cyber Security and NERC CIP regulations
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards, including ISA, IEEE, NFPA, and NERC
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Ability to work from onsite locations and live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment as needed
