About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supply the nuclear generating fleet with competent and properly trained personnel
- Maintain fleet non-accredited training programs and materials to satisfy INPO and regulatory agency requirements
- Develop and implement fleet training programs for qualified nuclear generating station personnel
- Provide instruction and evaluation in classroom, simulator, laboratory, and/or in-plant settings
- Support analysis, design, development, and maintenance of training materials
- Interface with plant engineering during plant modifications to evaluate training impact and develop gap training
- Interface with internal groups and external agencies, including INPO and the NRC, to maintain high-quality training programs
- Support the conduct of assessments
- Support scheduled refueling outages, including possible temporary assignment to refueling or other outage support positions
- Support the Emergency Response Organization by obtaining and maintaining qualification for Training Section-owned ERO positions
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School/GED degree
- 2 years related work experience
- Must meet the minimum ANSI requirements identified within Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011, Confirmation of Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications
- 0.25 years of nuclear power plant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional techniques through training or experience
- Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
- Demonstrated leadership qualities emphasizing flexibility, initiative, motivation, teamwork, organizing, planning, scheduling, and executing work assignments
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral presentations and speak clearly, concisely, and effectively before small and large groups
- Five years of Radiation Protection Technician related job experience at the Nuclear Radiation Protection Tech III level
- Two years of Radiation Detectors instrumentation calibration experience
- Two years of Rad Materials Shipping experience
- Experience assisting in training activities, including development and implementation of training
- Ability to establish effective working relationships internal and external to the work group
- Four years instructional experience
- Good working knowledge of regulatory training requirements
- In-depth knowledge of the INPO Accreditation process and NRC requirements
- Thorough understanding of the Systematic Approach to Training and Qualification process
- Good personal computer skills
- Ability to live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility after onboarding
- Travel requirements: 5–15%
