About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate accredited operations training programs for licensed and non-licensed operators using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT)
- Develop, revise, and update technically accurate training materials
- Conduct classroom, flow loop, simulator, and in-plant training
- Develop, administer, grade, and control examinations and other evaluation tools
- Evaluate training programs, students, and materials; recommend, track, and implement improvements
- Support quality training programs complying with INPO and NRC requirements, industry criteria, and customer expectations
- Participate in site and industry training assessments, audits, and evaluations
- Maintain alignment with nuclear station groups, activities, and current training methodologies
- Maintain diverse qualifications and skills to provide various classes and services
- Cultivate a close working relationship with the Operations organization
- Support the Emergency Response Organization by maintaining qualifications for ERO positions owned by the Training Section
- Support scheduled refueling outages, including possible temporary assignment to outage support positions
- Work across office, classroom, simulator, and plant settings, including rotating and off-normal hours
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School/GED degree AND two (2) years related work experience
- Current or previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or SRO certification
- 0.25 years of nuclear power plant experience
- Must meet minimum ANSI requirements under Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011 and Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications
- Must maintain unescorted nuclear plant access
- Must have the ability to obtain an SRO certification
- Must have the ability to obtain an SRO instructor certification
- Sound computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel
- Previous Operations Training experience, including qualification in classroom, simulator, OJT/TPE, and developer settings
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process
- Experience in the INPO accreditation renewal process
- Previously licensed SRO or certified at a similar plant design
- Ability to analyze work processes and procedures to determine training needs and make process improvements
- Ability to plan, organize, lead, and monitor major activities and projects
- Must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
- Ability to work hybrid from within a reasonable commute of the designated Duke Energy facility, not greater than 50 miles one way
- Some night shift, weekend, and off-normal-hours work required
- Travel requirement of 5–15%
