About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for engineering design changes involving Instrumentation & Control systems, relaying, digital systems, network infrastructure, cyber security, process equipment, and related areas
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise and guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve increasingly complex problems
  • Contribute to team decision-making through planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring work activities
  • Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
  • Conduct engineering and related studies
  • Complete routine engineering projects with minimal oversight and increasingly manage project schedules and interfaces independently
  • Design, operate, and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems
  • Coordinate work activities and maintain accurate records and files
  • Support company goals and represent the company positively and professionally
  • Work in the plant for system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation
  • Report onsite as directed, averaging 2 full workdays per regular workweek after onboarding
  • Participate in occasional overnight travel, refueling outage work, and potential emergency response/on-call duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must meet the minimum ANSI requirements identified within Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011 and Confirmation of Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or a Master's degree in engineering in lieu of the bachelor's degree
  • Electrical Design Engineer III: minimum of 4 years of engineering experience
  • Senior Electrical Design Engineer: minimum of 6 years of engineering experience, or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer
  • 1 year of nuclear power plant experience, unless subject to oversight and written approval authority in lieu of one year
  • Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Able to fulfill potential Emergency Response Organization responsibilities, callouts, on-call duty rotation, and Fit for Duty requirements
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment as needed
  • Additional hours during scheduled refueling outages
  • Occasional overnight travel
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Computer or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Preferred: State registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Preferred: Proficiency researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making recommendations, and presenting recommendations
  • Preferred: Good written and oral communication skills
  • Preferred: Proficiency in project management principles
  • Preferred: Utility industry, specifically nuclear industry, experience
  • Preferred: Nuclear industry standard design process experience
  • Preferred: Experience with Digital Control Systems, Cyber Security, and/or Networking Infrastructure
