About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Oconee Nuclear Station Design Support Engineering team
  • Develop, design, and implement limited-scope plant modifications
  • Develop scope, technical basis, installation requirements, and testing requirements for plant modifications
  • Support assigned engineering changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation activities
  • Research and develop technical responses to questions and requests
  • Provide direct support to plant operations and maintenance through design changes, engineering calculations, and technical support
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering problems of increasing scope and complexity
  • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities
  • Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
  • Conduct engineering studies and complete non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight
  • Manage project schedules and interfaces and specify system/component design, operation, and maintenance
  • Support internal and external inspections and audits
  • Maintain accurate records and files and coordinate work activities with stakeholders
  • Support company goals and represent the company professionally

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from a four-year college or university with an ABET accredited program, or a master’s degree in engineering in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Nuclear Engineer III: 4+ years of engineering experience
  • Senior Nuclear Engineer: 6+ years of engineering experience, or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience
  • Ability to achieve nuclear plant Unescorted Access
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Must be able to work safely in an industrial environment and wear PPE
  • May be required to have Emergency Response Organization responsibilities, including callouts and on-call duty rotation requiring fitness for duty
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Preferred: Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Preferred: Utility industry experience
  • Preferred: Proficiency in electrical power systems, instrumentation and control systems, and/or digital process systems
  • Preferred: Experience researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making recommendations, and presenting recommendations
  • Preferred: Microsoft Office, Mathcad, AutoCAD, and ETAP experience
  • Preferred: Project management principles
  • Good written and oral communication skills
