About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and support plant modifications involving instrumentation and controls, AC and DC power and control systems, digital hardware, software-based applications, plant computer interfaces, control circuits, and cybersecurity-related design requirements
  • Complete Responsible Engineer training and qualification and serve as primary technical owner for assigned modifications
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering problems of increasing scope and complexity
  • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, coordinate, and monitor engineering work
  • Manage priorities, project interfaces, technical risk, and project-impacting decisions
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, drawings, design inputs, evaluations, setpoints, and test plans
  • Evaluate design alternatives, technical risk, operating experience, lifecycle needs, and stakeholder input
  • Develop conceptual designs and technical specifications and coordinate vendor and external design-firm work
  • Review installation instructions and implementation packages
  • Provide field, outage, and implementation support while maintaining configuration control and procedural compliance
  • Perform or coordinate design reviews, digital and software evaluations, cybersecurity assessments, licensing evaluations, and post-modification testing
  • Communicate technical information with station organizations, project teams, vendors, and external partners
  • Support continuous learning and knowledge transfer; senior engineers coach and mentor other engineering professionals
  • Support emergency response, on-call duty, storm response, outages, testing, plant conditions, and project implementation as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Nuclear Engineer III: 1 year of nuclear power plant experience
  • Nuclear Engineer III: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Nuclear Engineer III: minimum of 4 years of engineering experience
  • Senior Nuclear Engineer: 1 year of nuclear power plant experience
  • Senior Nuclear Engineer: Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Senior Nuclear Engineer: minimum of 6 years of engineering experience, or 5 years with state registration as a Professional Engineer
  • A Master's degree in engineering may be considered in lieu of the bachelor's engineering degree
  • Must meet minimum ANSI requirements under Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011 and Regulatory Guide 1.8
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility
  • Ability to complete required engineering and Responsible Engineer qualifications
  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, and fall protection as applicable
  • Ability to perform plant walkdowns and work in office, field, and industrial environments
  • Occasional overnight travel, generally 5–10%
  • Preferred: electrical engineering or computer engineering degree
  • Preferred: Fundamentals of Engineering examination and Professional Engineer registration
  • Experience with nuclear design, modification, operations, maintenance, or project implementation
  • Experience with digital hardware, software, firmware, networks, virtualization, plant computers, control-system modifications, and Modbus, OPC DA, or OPC UA
  • Working knowledge of 10 CFR 50.59 and 10 CFR 73.54 cybersecurity requirements
  • Experience with engineering-change or work-management systems; Nuclear Asset Suite beneficial but not required
