About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Issue and manage service-type purchase orders and purchase contracts, amendments, and change orders
- Prepare requests for quotes and validate pricing and quantities
- Manage inventory and material transfers, expediting, logistics, invoice resolution, contractor safety ratings, and payment terms
- Drive cost avoidance and savings through supplier negotiations and process efficiencies
- Negotiate pricing, discounts, value, and competitive differentiators
- Guide business units on procurement processes, sourcing options, materials management, cost controls, and procurement issue avoidance
- Collaborate across organizational levels, sites, functions, businesses, and regions to achieve sourcing goals
- Establish relationships with new suppliers and improve existing supplier relationships
- Analyze and evaluate supplier performance
- Ensure compliance with supplier agreements and Supply Chain Sourcing Standards
- Ensure purchase orders and contracts comply with corporate policies, business requirements, laws, regulations, and Duke Energy standards
- Manage daily, monthly, and quarterly reports
- Support the company safety culture and operational excellence initiatives
- Support after-hours emergent duty phone, including after-hours and weekend support
- Travel to internal facilities and vendor locations as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree OR High School/GED degree plus 6 years related work experience for Procurement Specialist
- Minimum of 2 years related work experience for Procurement Specialist
- Bachelor's degree OR High School/GED degree plus 9 years related work experience for Senior Procurement Specialist
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience for Senior Procurement Specialist
- Previous Services sourcing/procurement and contracting experience
- Contract management experience
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- Maximo experience
- Strong negotiating skills
- Advanced analytical, problem solving, business acumen, and customer service skills
- Strong sense of urgency and proven desire to learn
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong multitasking skills
- Ability to prioritize a robust workload with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, consistent transportation

- Ability to live within a reasonable commute, not greater than 50 miles one way, to the designated Duke Energy facility
