About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, develop, and execute sourcing strategies for equipment, professional services, construction services, and EPC contracts
  • Ensure reliable and safe deliveries on schedule and at competitive cost
  • Perform market analysis and research best practices adopted by other industries and companies
  • Advise Business Unit and Supply Chain leaders on market conditions and sourcing options
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships and programs
  • Build and nurture client relationships, including executive-level business interfaces
  • Source and contract large-spend equipment and labor for generation projects, including thermal, hydro, and renewables
  • Manage category activities for new construction gas and hydro projects and support renewables
  • Work with minimal supervision and resolve problems through independent solution development
  • Report to the Director Sourcing, Major Projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Sourcing Specialist: Bachelor's degree and 2 years related work experience, OR Associate's degree and 4 years related work experience, OR High School Degree/GED and 6 years related work experience
  • Senior Sourcing Specialist: Bachelor's degree and 5 years related work experience, OR Associate's degree and 7 years related work experience, OR High School Degree/GED and 9 years related work experience
  • Planning skills
  • Experience in strategic sourcing initiatives for equipment and/or labor for large spend categories
  • Experience preparing market solicitation documents and conducting competitive market processes
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Negotiation skills and experience
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Ability to facilitate and work in a cross-functional team structure
  • Advanced presentation preparation and delivery
  • Experience with RFP tools and EAM systems
  • Experience managing projects
  • Previous sourcing experience
  • C.P.M., CPSM, or CSCP certification preferred

  • Experience with RFP/RFI systems and processes
  • Ability to manage a robust workload and pay attention to detail

  • Must live within a reasonable commute of a designated Duke Energy facility, not greater than 50 miles one way

  • Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
