About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work on special projects throughout the summer and interface with internal and external teams
  • Assist with projects and teams related to the assigned business unit
  • Contribute to Duke Energy’s clean energy transition strategy through actual project work and decision-oriented results
  • Support regulated renewables development, including land acquisition, interconnection requests, environmental and technical diligence, permitting, project acquisition due diligence, financial modeling, funding and transaction approvals, and project execution
  • Support lithium battery energy storage project development and sponsorship efforts
  • Support Finance activities including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial matters with other teams
  • Support expanded natural gas development activities based on individual interests and team needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Enrolled and actively pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree from an accredited college or university
  • Anticipated graduation of spring/summer 2027
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday–Friday, for 10–13 weeks in summer 2026
  • Must live within a reasonable commute to a designated Duke Energy facility for hybrid work
  • Current transcript and resume must be submitted
  • Must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Willingness or interest in the energy industry
  • Experience directing cross-functional teams
  • Ability to develop creative solutions for complex strategic issues
  • Effective interpersonal, teamwork, leadership, oral, and written communication skills
  • Experience in the energy sector and professional work experience related to areas of interest
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Extensive scheduling and planning experience
  • Project Management Professional certification for the PMC role
