About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute the sourcing process for assigned business areas
- Implement policies and procedures for contracted services and materials
- Manage request-for-proposal (RFP) and bidding processes
- Establish and nurture key supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing
- Achieve favorable contractual conditions and maintain internal business unit partnerships
- Enhance category management through strategic analysis of assigned categories
- Identify business unit demand, needs, issues, cost-reduction opportunities, and risks
- Develop enterprise and regional short- and long-term sourcing strategies
- Lead competitive bidding processes and objective criteria-based bid evaluations
- Recommend awards to Supply Chain and Business Unit Leadership
- Develop terms and conditions, negotiate strategic contracts, and integrate contracts with internal systems
- Manage ongoing supplier and contract management, including billing and shipment issues
- Analyze spending patterns, pricing fluctuations, market trends, and indices
- Calculate net working capital impacts and identify cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities
- Review prospective suppliers' financial statements for financial viability
- Apply knowledge of legal issues and sourcing processes to deliver favorable contractual outcomes
- Develop change management strategies with business unit partners and cross-functional teams
- Manage supplier activities, settlements, claims, disputes, purchase orders, agreements, invoice mismatches, price changes, amendments, and change orders
- Monitor supplier performance and contract compliance
- Mentor and assist in developing sourcing personnel, processes, and procedures
- Work with Legal, Security, Tax, Credit, Supply Chain, business unit, and supplier stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years related work experience OR Associate's degree AND four (4) years related work experience OR High School Degree/GED AND six (6) years of related work experience
- Must possess all basic/required qualifications
- Regulated utility experience
- Renewables contracting experience for Solar and BESS
- Hydro Generation equipment contracting experience
- Hydro Generation labor/services contracting experience
- Knowledge of FERC deadlines and plant outages
- Knowledge of IRA Tax Credits supporting Renewables
- Previous Supply Chain sourcing experience
- C.P.M., CPSM, or CSCP certification
- Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving, analytical and leadership skills
- Experience with RFP/RFI systems and processes
- Ability to manage a robust workload and pay attention to detail
- Outstanding planning/organization skills

- Demonstrated interpersonal and team building skills
- Must live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility, not greater than 50 miles one way
- Must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
