About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable ETL pipelines using AWS services
  • Design and deploy domain-specific data products
  • Ensure schema design, data transformations, and storage solutions follow organizational standards
  • Implement and enforce data governance practices for privacy, access controls, lineage, and metadata management
  • Manage and enhance the data catalog for discoverability, lineage tracking, and usage transparency
  • Support operation, maintenance, reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise Data Mesh software
  • Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies, including PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, and data domain teams on backlog refinement and prioritization
  • Lead training on data mesh principles, governance practices, and self-service analytics tools
  • Document work in Jira and Confluence, including Epics, Features, and User Stories
  • Automate data governance workflows and uphold data integrity across distributed sources
  • Apply cloud security practices, encryption, access controls, and CJIS security standards
  • Provide team-specific training to enhance data engineering capabilities
  • Perform maintenance and on-call support, including potential weekend/non-business-hours work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active Secret or above clearance required
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, focused on cloud-based data infrastructure and ETL pipeline development
  • Advanced expertise in AWS data services, including S3, Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation, and Lambda
  • Strong understanding of Data Mesh architecture and decentralized data management principles
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data governance, including data privacy, access controls, lineage, and metadata management
  • Experience using data governance tools
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, or SQL for ETL development, automation, and data processing
  • Experience with data catalog tools
  • Proven experience in SAFe Agile environments, including Scrum, Kanban, Jira, and Confluence
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional data domain teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to lead training for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge of cloud security practices, data encryption, and federal security standards
  • Preferred: experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS
  • Preferred: familiarity with RESTful API development
  • Preferred: experience with Bamboo, Jenkins, AWS CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Preferred: knowledge of AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, or Splunk
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Preferred: Active Secret clearance
