About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Report to the Payroll Manager
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, retroactive payments, and salary adjustments
  • Administer union payroll in accordance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and applicable pay/wage rates
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee earnings histories
  • Generate payroll reports and analysis
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws
  • Process payroll tax filings, amendments, and corrections
  • Assist with quarterly and annual reporting
  • Assist with year-end activities including W-2 preparation and W-2C corrections
  • Establish employer withholding and State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) accounts in new states
  • Audit payroll data prior to final payroll submission
  • Reconcile payroll registers, taxes, deductions, and benefit contributions
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, direct deposit issues, and reporting issues
  • Prepare and distribute termination checks
  • Work with Payroll Managers and Human Resources as needed for special projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of payroll administration experience
  • Union payroll experience
  • Multi-state payroll and payroll tax experience, with an emphasis on California
  • Experience with ADP or similar payroll systems (Gusto, Paylocity, etc.)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, etc.
