About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop specifications for cosmetic innovation and reformulation projects
- Select active ingredients and propose dosage forms and textures
- Plan projects and highlight the scientific and commercial value of formulations
- Provide recommendations on active ingredients, dosage forms, sensory properties, and packaging
- Conduct scientific literature reviews and analyze existing market formulations
- Contribute to technology scouting and identify innovations
- Maintain regular communication with ingredient suppliers and contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs)
- Manage industrial formula transfer projects and adhere to project timelines
- Develop scientific materials to train marketing and sales teams
- Support product launches and commercialization
- Perform any other duties necessary for the effective operation of the R&D department
Requirements
What you’ll need- Pharmacy graduate with a focus on cosmetology, Master's degree in cosmetic formulation/cosmetology, or engineering degree with a specialization in cosmetics
- Basic knowledge of cosmetic formulation and dosage forms, including emulsions, gels, serums, balms, etc.
- Understanding of cosmetic raw materials and active ingredients and their functions
- Knowledge of physical chemistry principles, including pH, viscosity, stability, and compatibility
- Knowledge of the key stages in cosmetic product development, from the brief through industrialization
- Ability to organize and monitor multiple projects simultaneously, including timelines, trials, prototypes, and deliverables; ability to identify priorities, risks, and bottlenecks
- Ability to analyze and summarize trial results; prepare reports, presentations, and results summaries
- Ability to conduct literature searches and analyze and synthesize scientific information
- Ability to perform competitive analyses and identify trends and differentiating factors
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with literature research tools, including PubMed, Google Scholar, Zotero, and AI tools
- Ability to collaborate with formulation, analytical, regulatory, quality, production, marketing, manufacturing, and supplier stakeholders
- Strong writing skills and good command of English
- Curiosity and an interest in cosmetic innovation
- Analytical mindset and ability to propose solutions
