About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide supportive patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional
- Provide patient care and comfort, personal care and hygiene, toileting, and mobility support
- Create a safe environment for patients
- Act as liaison between patients and nurses to report changes or concerns
- Provide high-level customer service to patients, patients' families, visitors, and employees
- Participate in hand-off/report of pertinent patient and departmental information upon arrival and departure
- Provide age-appropriate care for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Perform other job-related duties as required by the supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Recent experience in a healthcare environment, with a preference for the setting in which they are applying (preferred)
- BLS Basic Life Support preferred upon hire; must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care
- Ability to clearly communicate to other members of the healthcare team
- Ability to understand and follow directions of the healthcare team
- Knowledge of patient and healthcare safety standards and regulations, including falls, skin breakdown, suicide prevention, and environment of care
- Knowledge and demonstration of infection prevention and transmission-based precautions
- Ability to work in a team
- Basic hygiene and activities of daily living care
- Compassionate, relationship-based approach in care activities
- Accountability for completion of assigned tasks
- Escalation of concerns via chain of command
- Ability to create and maintain a safe environment
- Ability to advocate for patients and foresee safety issues
- Ability to perform shift work
- Ability to maneuver the weight of patients
- Physical ability to meet lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, bending, sitting, walking, and standing requirements
- Ability to work with potential exposure to bodily fluids, infectious materials, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, x-ray/electromagnetic energy, high-pitched noises, and other listed hazards
