About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Greet patients and the community respectfully
- Prepare and review patient charts for upcoming visits
- Verify diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date
- Measure vital signs, including pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
- Perform clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Degree or GED
- Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required): Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire and required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
- Problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
