About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform routine tests on blood, tissues, and other body specimens
  • Provide physicians with quality results using clinical laboratory equipment
  • Perform analytical tests on biological specimens accurately and efficiently according to laboratory procedures
  • Determine specimen acceptability through visual inspections and recognition of abnormal or unusual results
  • Recognize factors affecting measurements and results and take appropriate action according to protocols
  • Perform quality control for all testing and meet established ranges before releasing patient results
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment
  • Perform equipment checks and clean the work area
  • Monitor temperatures according to hospital policies
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA-approved program (required)
  • MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligibility through a nationally recognized certification agency, preferably ASCP (required)
  • Externship program completed (preferred)
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
