About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure timely collection and communication of clinical data for chart-abstracted measures, registries, accreditations, and certifications
- Abstract, analyze, and submit data to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, CMS conditions of participation, payor requirements, and medical staff bylaws
- Identify and communicate data patterns, trends, and improvement opportunities to site-based teams and quality leaders
- Serve as a subject matter expert regarding individual measures and data definitions
- Participate in data verification and validation to ensure accuracy, integrity, and inter-rater reliability
- Participate in quality improvement activities promoting patient safety and addressing opportunities identified in abstraction, analysis, or synthesis
- Participate in ongoing education to apply current data definitions
- Provide clinical expertise for complex abstraction
- Perform other job-related duties as required by the supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science Nursing (required)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) (required)
- 1 year of experience in an adult, acute care hospital setting (required)
- 1 year of hospital quality experience (preferred)
- Clinical abstraction, clinical data, data analysis, data verification, data quality, and data validation
- Professional nursing and electronic medical records knowledge
- Patient safety and operational definitions knowledge
- Data accuracy, data trends, and quality improvement skills
- Time management, organization, accuracy, attention to detail, teamwork, enthusiasm to learn, communication, and deadline management
- EPIC - Electronic Health Records (preferred)
- Premier QMR (preferred)
