About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess, analyze, plan, implement and evaluate patient care following established standards
  • Float to various departments and sites throughout the Hampton Roads market based on competency
  • Provide patient care across multiple sites within a single market
  • Participate in day-of staffing, multiple assignment locations within a single shift, travel assignments and seasonal staffing patterns
  • Participate as a member of the health care team under the direction of a clinical manager or designee
  • Support departmental and operating unit goals through continuous quality improvement and departmental activities
  • Act as a patient safety advocate
  • Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery
  • Plan and coordinate nursing care and clinical decisions using the best available evidence
  • Formulate and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Evaluate patient responses to interventions and document care appropriately
  • Float among Mary Immaculate Hospital, Maryview Medical Center, Harbour View Medical Center and Southampton Medical Center

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's of Nursing (required)
  • Current nursing license in the designated state of employment (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS – AHA) required based on specialty assignment
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care (required)
  • Two years of RN ICU experience strongly preferred
  • Medical equipment knowledge
  • Proficient in clinical skills
  • Principles and practices of professional nursing
  • Ability to perform assessments
  • Proficiency in using computerized tools
  • Use of restraints
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to change
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record preferred
