  • Develop analytical approaches and evaluate results against applicable design criteria
  • Provide technically sound recommendations to engineering stakeholders
  • Support complex design evaluations, product development, failure investigations, and corrective actions
  • Develop and improve analysis methodologies, procedures, documentation, and engineering standards
  • Serve as a technical resource for less-experienced engineers
  • Collaborate with senior structural specialists on advanced analysis methods
  • Progressively develop technical independence and subject-matter expertise in structural mechanics and FEA

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or related engineering discipline; advanced technical degree preferred
  • 10+ years of applicable engineering experience preferred, with significant experience in structural analysis or mechanical design
  • Strong knowledge of statics, mechanics of materials, stress analysis, and structural mechanics
  • Advanced experience with ANSYS Mechanical or comparable FEA software
  • Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Design programs such as CREO
  • Experience performing linear and nonlinear structural analysis, including contact, bolt pretension, interference fits, large deformation, and material nonlinearities
  • Experience with transient and steady-state thermal coupled with static structural analysis, including temperature-dependent and plastic material behavior
  • Ability to independently establish loads, boundary conditions, contacts, mesh strategies, and modeling assumptions
  • Experience evaluating yielding, fracture, fatigue, buckling, joint separation, and other structural failure modes
  • Ability to validate analytical results using hand calculations, reaction-force/equilibrium checks, mesh convergence, and engineering judgment
  • Experience supporting failure investigations and root-cause analysis and developing corrective design recommendations
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, provide technical guidance, and contribute to structural analysis standards, procedures, tools, and best practices
