About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead technically while remaining hands-on with the code
Own shared platform foundations for ECA’s multi-tenant B2B SaaS platform
Work on identity and access management, roles and permissions, tenant isolation, integrations, and scalable platform architecture
Lead and mentor engineers
Own technical direction and define engineering standards
Architect scalable, maintainable solutions
Work with Product and Delivery to turn requirements into technical solutions
Provide realistic estimates and challenge optimistic estimates
Unblock difficult or delayed projects and restore delivery momentum
Lead Agile ways of working and encourage continuous improvement
Establish best practices around architecture, testing and TDD
Use AI across design, build, testing and review
Explore AI coding agents and establish appropriate usage guardrails

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years’ software engineering experience
Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript / JavaScript, React, SQL / NoSQL, and CSS
Experience designing and building scalable, multi-tenant SaaS platforms
Experience with identity and access management, including SSO, OIDC, SAML, authentication and authorisation, roles and permissions, tenant isolation, and tools such as Keycloak
Technical leadership experience combining technical depth with people leadership
Ability to make and clearly explain architectural decisions
Eligible to work in the UK
Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Terraform, Playwright, .NET Core or C# is advantageous
Experience with AI IDEs, coding agents or AI-assisted software development is advantageous
