About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead change and mentor engineers within the team
  • Lead and manage full Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes
  • Deliver Mechanical Engineering design packages across all project stages
  • Undertake Mechanical design work from concept through construction
  • Take responsibility for defined engineering packages, ensuring quality, programme adherence, and coordination
  • Coordinate design activities within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Resolve technical challenges of moderate complexity
  • Identify and communicate technical risks and issues to the project lead
  • Maintain quality control of own work and contribute to consistent project outputs
  • Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineers
  • Support planning and organisation of work
  • Assist BIM and modelling teams with coordinated 3D models and detailed engineering drawings
  • Attend design meetings, workshops, and site visits
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders on technical matters
  • Support implementation of new systems, tools, and processes
  • Collaborate across EDC offices to support project delivery
  • Follow EDC’s Environmental Management System and support environmental and sustainability objectives
  • Work three days in the office, with work-from-home arrangements agreed with the line manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum Degree level in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6+ years Building Services Consultancy Design experience
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with thermal modelling, energy assessment, and dynamic energy modelling software advantageous
  • Commercial sector knowledge and BIM experience a strong advantage
  • Chartership desirable
  • Proven experience delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle
  • Expert knowledge of Water Services, Heating / LTHW, HVAC, Fuel, above-ground drainage, and BMS
  • Deep knowledge of Irish building regulations, particularly TGD Part B, F, G, and L
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritise and plan work
  • Ability to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performance
  • Good understanding of other building disciplines in design and installation
  • Leadership qualities while working as part of a team
  • Ability to make prompt, disciplined project decisions
  • Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills
  • Commercial awareness
