About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Strategic Procurement, Construction, Engineering, and O&M teams to analyze project designs, costs, and energy estimates
  • Challenge assumptions and methodologies to identify cost savings, mitigate risks, and improve project outcomes
  • Ensure the estimating process meets Development, Origination, Valuations, and Project Management team expectations
  • Serve as the primary contact for Portfolio Management regarding pricing processes and project assumptions
  • Define, govern, and continuously improve estimation frameworks, assumption hierarchies, and risk quantification methodologies
  • Lead cross-departmental teams in identifying project risks, including Red-Flag risks, and developing mitigation strategies
  • Answer project team and leadership questions about assumptions and changes
  • Align project analysis and estimate complexity with business decision needs, including Investment Approvals, Project Capitalization, and Final Investment Decisions
  • Assess customer needs and recommend ways to improve project value and outcomes
  • Propose scalable, repeatable process improvements that eliminate bottlenecks and reduce internal labor costs
  • Facilitate adoption of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning in the estimation process
  • Advise EPCTS leadership with strategic insights and recommendations
  • Support the EPC Data Solutions Engineer with advanced analytics and data infrastructure
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and review to analysts and cross-functional contributors without formal supervisory authority
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Engineering, Statistics, Project Management, or a closely related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in renewable energy project development, project management, or other practical renewable energy experience
  • Experience with high-profile projects valued at $250+ million
  • Experience setting methodologies, driving standards, and influencing strategy across organizational boundaries
  • Experience with renewable project valuation, financial modeling, and/or risk analysis methodologies, including Monte Carlo simulations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets for project insights and data-informed decision-making
  • Experience using Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to drive innovation
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and commercial teams
  • Proactive problem identification, prioritization, and solution proposal
  • Ability to work independently and add value without specific direction
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and provide accurate, timely updates
  • Fluent spoken and written English and French
  • Proficiency in Python and its data ecosystem, including pandas, numpy, pydantic, fastapi, streamlit, and asyncio
  • Proficiency in SQL optimization, NoSQL databases, and distributed database architectures
  • Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure; professional certifications highly desired
  • Knowledge of DataOps, data quality frameworks, and metadata management
  • Understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand at a computer for a reasonable length of time and regularly walk or stand
  • Approximately 5% travel for conferences or internal meetings
