About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Strategic Procurement, Construction, Engineering, and O&M teams to analyze project designs, costs, and energy estimates
- Challenge assumptions and methodologies to identify cost savings, mitigate risks, and improve project outcomes
- Ensure the estimating process meets or exceeds Development, Origination, Valuations, and Project Management team expectations
- Serve as the primary contact for Portfolio Management, aligning pricing processes and project assumptions with strategic objectives
- Define, govern, and continuously evolve estimation frameworks, assumption hierarchies, and risk quantification methodologies
- Lead cross-departmental teams to identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Explain project assumptions and changes to project teams and leadership
- Align project analysis and estimate complexity with business decision needs, including Investment Approvals, Project Capitalization, and Final Investment Decisions
- Provide judgments and recommendations to improve project value and outcomes
- Improve estimation workflows by eliminating bottlenecks and reducing internal labor costs through scalable, repeatable solutions
- Facilitate adoption and integration of AI and machine learning in the estimation process
- Advise EPCTS leadership with strategic insights and recommendations
- Support the EPC Data Solutions Engineer with advanced analytics and data infrastructure
- Indirectly guide analysts and cross-functional contributors through coaching, technical direction, and review, without formal supervisory authority
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or greater in Engineering, Statistics, Project Management, or a closely related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in renewable energy project development, project management, or other practical renewable energy experience
- Experience with high-profile projects valued at $250+ million
- Ability to independently set methodologies, drive standards, and influence strategy across organizational boundaries
- Experience with renewable project valuation, financial modeling, and/or risk analysis methodologies, including Monte Carlo simulations
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets for project insights and data-informed decision-making
- Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence and machine learning
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and commercial teams
- Proactive problem identification, prioritization, and solution proposal
- Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and provide accurate, timely updates
- English/French proficiency, oral and written
- Preferred: hands-on experience in data engineering, software development, or data architecture and enterprise-scale data solutions
- Preferred: Python and data ecosystem proficiency (pandas, numpy, pydantic, fastapi, streamlit, asyncio)
- Preferred: SQL optimization, NoSQL databases, and distributed database architectures
- Preferred: AWS, GCP, or Azure proficiency; professional certifications highly desired
- Knowledge of DataOps, data quality frameworks, and metadata management
- Understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements
- Ability to sit or stand at a computer for a reasonable length of time; regularly walk or stand
- Approximately 5% travel for conferences or internal meetings
