About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Strategic Procurement, Construction, Engineering, and O&M teams to analyze project designs, costs, and energy estimates
- Challenge assumptions and methodologies to identify cost savings, mitigate risks, and improve project outcomes
- Ensure estimating processes meet Development, Origination, Valuations, and Project Management team expectations
- Serve as primary contact for Portfolio Management regarding pricing processes and project assumptions
- Define, govern, and continuously evolve estimation frameworks, assumptions hierarchies, and risk quantification methodologies
- Lead teams addressing project risks, including red-flag risks, and develop mitigation strategies
- Answer project team and leadership questions about assumptions and changes
- Align project analysis and estimate complexity with business decision needs, including Investment Approvals, Project Capitalization, and Final Investment Decisions
- Recommend improvements to project value and outcomes based on customer needs
- Improve estimation workflows by eliminating bottlenecks and reducing internal labor costs through scalable solutions
- Facilitate adoption of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning in the estimation process
- Advise EPCTS leadership with strategic insights and recommendations
- Support the EPC Data Solutions Engineer with advanced analytics and data infrastructure
- Indirectly guide analysts and cross-functional contributors through coaching, technical direction, and review
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or greater in Engineering, Statistics, Project Management, or a closely related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in renewable energy project development, project management, or other practical renewable energy experience
- Experience with high-profile projects valued at $250+ million
- Ability to independently set methodologies, drive standards, and influence strategy across organizational boundaries
- Experience with renewable project valuation, financial modeling, and/or risk analysis methodologies, including Monte Carlo simulations
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets for project insights and data-informed decision-making
- Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence and machine learning
- Ability to work with cross-functional technical and commercial teams
- Ability to identify problems, prioritize, and propose solutions
- Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and provide accurate, timely updates
- English/French oral and written proficiency
- Preferred: hands-on experience in data engineering, software development, or data architecture and enterprise-scale data solutions
- Preferred: proficiency in Python and its data ecosystem (pandas, numpy, pydantic, fastapi, streamlit, asyncio)
- Preferred: proficiency in SQL optimization, NoSQL databases, and distributed database architectures
- Preferred: proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure; professional certifications highly desired
- Knowledge of DataOps, data quality frameworks, and metadata management
- Understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements
- Ability to sit or stand at a computer, walk or stand regularly, and work in an office environment
