About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead strategic design, governance, and execution of the SAP Business Technology Platform landscape
Configure, develop, deploy, and support SAP BTP Cloud Integration flows
Build, secure, monitor, and manage APIs with SAP BTP API Management
Design event-driven integrations using SAP Event Mesh and related messaging capabilities
Configure connectivity among SAP BTP, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, and external applications
Provide technical leadership for BTP application development, SAP Build, workflow automation, business rules, and side-by-side extensions
Develop and support ABAP integrations and enhancements in SAP ECC, including OData services, IDoc extensions, BAPIs, RFCs, proxies, web services, BAdIs, exits, enhancement spots, classes, function modules, and reports
Troubleshoot, refactor, and optimize custom ABAP code and existing integrations
Serve as Tier 3 technical lead for complex issues across BTP, ECC, ABAP, middleware, APIs, connectivity, and SAP applications
Lead SAP BTP Integration Suite architecture and governance
Define integration patterns, security architecture, technical standards, reference architectures, and governance processes
Develop roadmaps for migrating SAP PI/PO and point-to-point interfaces to SAP BTP Integration Suite
Define future-state BTP architecture and integration strategy for the ECC-to-S/4HANA transition
Assess ECC interfaces and custom developments for retention, remediation, replacement, migration, rebuilding, or retirement
Support S/4HANA planning, implementation, migration, testing, cutover, hypercare, and stabilization
Establish monitoring, alerting, logging, error handling, and operational support practices
Partner with SAP functional, technical, infrastructure, security, and business teams
Mentor developers, integration specialists, and technical team members
Review solution designs and implementations for quality, scalability, security, performance, and maintainability
Support incident management, root-cause analysis, problem resolution, documentation, interface inventories, and dependency maps
Directly supervise others and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
10 years of progressive experience in SAP Basis, SAP Technical Architecture, or SAP Platform Architecture roles within complex enterprise environments
Experience with large-scale SAP implementations, upgrades, and migrations, including S/4HANA greenfield or brownfield projects
Experience with automation tools and scripting, such as Ansible and Python
Experience with industry solutions or modules relevant to energy and utilities
In-depth knowledge of SAP products, including S/4HANA, ECC, and Fiori
Expertise in SAP BTP, especially Integration Suite, Cloud Integration, API Management, and Event Mesh
Familiarity with Cloud Foundry, Kyma, SAP CAP, and SAP Fiori/UI5
Mastery of ABAP Objects and SAP Enhancement Framework, including BAdIs, User Exits, Customer Exits, and Enhancement Spots
Technical understanding of SAP ECC MM and PM modules
Experience integrating SAP Ariba via CIG/Managed Gateway or BTP
Expert knowledge of REST APIs, OData, SOAP, IDocs, RFCs, and message queues
Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP in SAP deployments, including Cloud Connector
Understanding of SAP security concepts, IAS/IPS, Principal Propagation, OAuth, and ECC roles/authorizations
Expertise in SAP system sizing, ABAP/iFlow performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery
Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Project Piper, GitHub, and automated testing frameworks
Relevant SAP certifications highly preferred
Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF preferred
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes preferred
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to troubleshoot issues from the BTP cloud layer through core ECC functional logic
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Must be able to sit or stand at a computer for a reasonable length of time and regularly walk or stand
