About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead evaluation and aggregation of technical assumptions for renewable energy projects
- Analyze project designs, construction and equipment costs, operating expenses, and energy estimates
- Challenge assumptions and methodologies to identify cost savings, risk mitigation, and improved outcomes
- Ensure estimates support Development, Origination, Valuations, Project Management, and Portfolio Management teams
- Define, govern, and evolve estimation frameworks, assumptions hierarchies, and risk quantification methodologies
- Lead cross-departmental teams in identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategies
- Explain project assumptions and changes to project teams and leadership
- Align analysis complexity with investment approvals, project capitalization, and Final Investment Decisions
- Recommend improvements to project value, feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and long-term performance
- Improve estimation workflows by removing bottlenecks and implementing scalable, repeatable solutions
- Facilitate adoption of AI and machine learning in the estimation process
- Advise EPCTS leadership with strategic insights and recommendations
- Support the EPC Data Solutions Engineer with advanced analytics and data infrastructure
- Coach and provide technical direction and review to analysts and cross-functional contributors without formal supervisory authority
- Travel approximately 5% for conferences or internal meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or greater in Engineering, Statistics, Project Management, or a closely related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in renewable energy project development, project management, or practical renewable energy experience
- Experience with high-profile projects valued at $250+ million
- Ability to independently set methodologies, drive standards, and influence strategy across organizational boundaries
- Experience with renewable project valuation, financial modeling, and/or risk analysis, including Monte Carlo simulations
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets for project insights and data-informed decisions
- Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence and machine learning
- Hands-on data engineering, software development, or data architecture experience preferred
- Ability to work with cross-functional technical and commercial teams
- Ability to identify problems, prioritize, and propose solutions
- Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and provide accurate, timely updates
- Proficiency in Python and its data ecosystem preferred
- Proficiency in SQL optimization, NoSQL databases, and distributed database architectures preferred
- Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure preferred; professional certifications highly desired
- Knowledge of DataOps, data quality frameworks, and metadata management preferred
- Understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements
- Bilingual English/French, oral and written
