About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead end-to-end estimation for renewable energy projects and ensure evaluation quality, accuracy, and strategic value
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Strategic Procurement, Construction, Engineering, and O&M teams to analyze project designs, costs, and energy estimates
- Challenge assumptions and methodologies to identify cost savings, mitigate risks, and improve project outcomes
- Ensure estimating processes meet Development, Origination, Valuations, and Project Management team expectations
- Serve as primary contact for Portfolio Management and align pricing processes and project assumptions with strategic objectives
- Define, govern, and continuously improve estimation frameworks, assumption hierarchies, and risk quantification methodologies
- Lead teams in identifying and mitigating project risks, including red-flag risks
- Explain project assumptions and changes to project teams and leadership
- Align project analysis and estimate complexity with business decision needs, including investment approvals, project capitalization, and FID
- Recommend improvements to project value, feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and long-term performance
- Propose scalable, repeatable process improvements that eliminate bottlenecks and reduce internal labor costs
- Facilitate adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the estimation process
- Advise EPCTS leadership with strategic insights and recommendations
- Support the EPC Data Solutions Engineer with advanced analytics and data infrastructure
- Provide functional coverage and technical continuity for the Senior Data Solutions Engineer during absences or elevated workload
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or greater in Engineering, Statistics, Project Management, or a closely related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in renewable energy project development, project management, or other practical renewable energy experience
- Experience with high-profile projects valued at $250+ million
- Ability to independently set methodologies, drive standards, and influence strategy across organizational boundaries
- Experience with renewable project valuation, financial modeling, and/or risk analysis methodologies, including Monte Carlo simulations
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets for project insights and data-informed decision-making
- Experience using Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to drive innovation
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and commercial teams
- Proactive problem identification, prioritization, and solution proposal
- Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and provide accurate, timely updates
- English and French, spoken and written
- Preferred: hands-on data engineering, software development, or data architecture experience and ability to deploy enterprise-scale data solutions
- Preferred: Python and data ecosystem proficiency, including pandas, numpy, pydantic, fastapi, streamlit, and asyncio
- Preferred: SQL optimization, NoSQL databases, and distributed database architectures
- Preferred: AWS, GCP, or Azure proficiency; professional certifications highly desired
- Knowledge of DataOps, data quality frameworks, and metadata management
- Understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements
- Ability to sit or stand at a computer, type, read, walk, and stand regularly
