About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and oversee technical coordination of engineering for grid-scale PV, wind, and BESS projects from development through construction
- Lead preliminary collection system, substation, transmission, electrical, and civil design basis activities
- Facilitate geotechnical, lidar, hydrology, and electrical studies
- Participate in project reviews and associated weekly/monthly meetings
- Serve as technical interface with Development, Permitting, Interconnection, Estimating, Procurement, Resource Assessment, and Project Management teams
- Manage external third-party engineering consultants
- Support technology reviews, equipment selection, and internal project pricing
- Work with Development on permitting requirements and conduct development site visits
- Prepare technical assistance for EPC contractor RFPs and support transition from development to construction
- Review and comment on EPC schedules of values
- Coordinate engineering RFIs and 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC deliverables with EPCs, utilities, ISOs, and off-takers
- Coordinate detailed engineering reviews with subject matter experts and construction teams
- Review civil, structural, and electrical design packages for compliance with EDF specifications
- Support EPC and site managers with RFI response and resolution
- Review contractor change orders and support Independent Engineer technical due diligence
- Identify design optimization and cost-improvement opportunities
- Create engineering guidance, procedures, and processes
- Solve complex cross-functional problems and share solutions
- Document and implement project lessons learned
- Travel to potential and existing project sites approximately 4–5 times per year
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering (electrical preferred)
- 7+ years of experience on renewable energy projects
- Minimum 2+ years as a project engineer
- Good understanding of PV, storage, and/or wind technology, preferably solar
- Diversified knowledge of relevant codes, standards, engineering principles, and practices
- Experience with Microsoft and engineering software, including AutoCAD and ETAP and/or other power system software
- Experience with PV tooling software such as PVSyst, PVCase, or System Advisory Model preferred
- Experience reviewing civil, structural, or electrical engineering design packages
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
- Proactive, flexible, autonomous, highly motivated, and able to work effectively in a team
- Problem-solving skills to address project challenges
