About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage all aspects and phases of multiple solar EPC projects and programs simultaneously
  • Deliver projects on time, on budget, and in compliance with health, safety, contract, quality, and legal requirements
  • Coordinate, supervise, and manage internal project teams and external partners, subcontractors, consultants, clients, utilities, and development partners
  • Secure subcontractors and lead vetting, qualification, referencing, scoping, price negotiation, and contracting
  • Manage project administration, site safety, field quality control, project meetings, document control, submittals, staff planning, construction documentation, close-out, and commissioning
  • Manage budgets, expenses, revenue, margins, schedules, subcontractor payments, and project billings
  • Track project P&L against plan monthly, take corrective action, and forecast revenues, costs, and margins
  • Create baseline schedules and maintain weekly and monthly updates in MS Project and/or Primavera
  • Implement health, safety, quality assurance, inspection, and test plans
  • Ensure compliance with contracts, permits, applicable laws, and federal, state, and local codes and regulations
  • Secure and maintain approvals from customers, interconnection providers, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Support origination, development, financing, and engineering teams with pricing, technical design, permitting, compliance, and site constraints
  • Perform project diligence, including site reconnaissance, geotechnical work, and investigations
  • Attend AHJ meetings and provide input on project design and construction documentation
  • Report project status to internal and external colleagues and stakeholders and update the company project management platform
  • Supervise matrix-based project staff and external subcontractors and vendors
  • Travel to project sites approximately 25% of overall work time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline required
  • 5–7+ years progressive experience in construction and/or development
  • Experience as a Project Manager, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Development Engineer, or Project Superintendent
  • Experience managing community solar and/or utility-scale photovoltaic systems greater than 3–5 MW, preferably greater than 10 MW
  • Experience managing multiple community-scale solar projects simultaneously
  • Experience with solar interconnects into utility distribution and/or transmission grids at 12kV or greater
  • Advanced understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, codes, design/build contracts, and construction means and methods
  • Experience with land development and project financial closing requirements
  • Experience with large-scale cut-and-fill earthwork or landfill construction required
  • Experience subcontracting industrial or large commercial electrical work required
  • Strong knowledge of contract language and contract negotiations
  • Understanding of project cost accounting and tracking procedures
  • Ability to create and execute project work plans
  • Strong construction logistics, scheduling, estimating, and budgeting experience
  • Prior experience utilizing Procore for solar project management, contracting, and quality control
  • Commitment to a safe working environment
  • Ability to work with internal colleagues, external customers, and subcontractors
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Frequent travel to North American project sites with varying terrain and weather conditions
