About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and further develop EGYM’s four-person Legal team
- Negotiate and draft complex commercial agreements, particularly SaaS, licensing, cloud, reseller, partner, and distribution agreements
- Own IT and IP law matters, including hardware, software, and licensing models, open-source compliance, trademark protection, and the protection and commercialization of intellectual property
- Leverage Legal Operations and AI models in legal contexts
- Support matters relating to competition law, data protection compliance, healthcare law, export controls, and sanctions
- Advise Sales, Marketing, Product & Engineering, Finance, and Operations on business models, pricing, risks, and negotiation strategies
- Provide legal support for partnerships and acquisitions, focusing on commercial and IP due diligence and integration measures
- Coordinate corporate law matters with management and engage external counsel as needed
- Provide the Playlist Technologies Legal team and General Counsel with transparent, proactive updates on legal risks, decisions, and priorities
- Manage external counsel and own the EGYM Legal budget
- Establish contract standards, playbooks, and approval processes
- Standardize contract review cycles
- Implement a contract management setup
- Collaborate with the Legal team and General Counsel at Playlist Technologies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified lawyer with an outstanding academic record
- Licensed to practice law
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience
- At least 5 years of commercial law experience at a global technology or SaaS company
- Experience leading Legal teams
- Strong knowledge of international commercial law, SaaS, cloud and licensing businesses, and IT and IP law
- Experience with AI and its use in legal contexts
- Basic knowledge of corporate law
- Experience across multiple jurisdictions (EMEA, the Americas, or APAC)
- Comfortable working across time zones and cultures
- Entrepreneurial, pragmatic approach and ability to manage competing priorities
- Ability to scale legal processes and standards in line with business growth
- Persuasive communication skills at executive and board level
- Strong business and risk acumen
- Fluent in German and English
- French or Spanish language skills are a plus
- LL.M. in software, IT, IP, or business law is a plus
- U.S. bar admission or a U.S. LL.M. is a plus
