About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Engage with healthcare providers, researchers, professional organization leaders, and population-based decision-makers regarding scientific and medical information
  • Serve as the primary clinical and scientific resource for healthcare providers in the assigned territory
  • Communicate accurate, current clinical, scientific, and medical information between KOLs/investigators and Eisai Medical Affairs and development groups
  • Establish and maintain peer relationships with KOLs in relevant therapeutic areas
  • Present clinical, scientific, and economic data on Eisai products and therapeutic areas
  • Support and lead assigned professional congress activities and coordinate MSL/Sr. MSL coverage
  • Identify and report scientific, clinical, and research insights from KOLs
  • Develop, implement, and present Medical Affairs plans for the assigned territory
  • Maintain current knowledge of disease states, study methodology, clinical information, and product data
  • Serve as a technical/scientific resource to commercial personnel when requested
  • Teach, coach, and mentor new or less experienced MSLs
  • Assist with supervision and performance evaluations and lead special projects
  • Facilitate review and follow-up of Investigator-Initiated Studies and assist with Eisai-sponsored trials
  • Serve as primary contact for external investigators submitting Investigator-Initiated Studies
  • Provide recommendations for site selection and scientific expertise for post-marketing studies
  • Lead field medical efforts with professional organizations, societies, and advocacy groups

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced, terminal Doctorate level (D-level) degree in medical or health sciences (e.g. MD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, EdD)
  • For MSL: 0–3 years of experience in the pharma/biotech industry, clinical pharmacy, research, or related scientific or clinical settings
  • For Sr. MSL: minimum of 3 years of MSL experience in Oncology/Hematology
  • Strong broad-based scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Knowledge of treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA regulations, and OIG guidelines
  • Knowledge and experience within Eisai’s desired therapeutic areas
  • Established relationships with key opinion leaders and knowledge of relevant institutions
  • Excellent presentation and teaching skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assess issues and think strategically
  • Cross-functional work experience
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to Medical Affairs strategic direction
  • Ability and interest in coaching and mentoring less experienced MSLs
  • Ability to lead and motivate team members without a direct reporting relationship
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and solve cross-functional problems
  • Sound computer skills, including word processing, slide presentation, and spreadsheet applications
  • Previous established relationships with KOLs in Oncology/Hematology
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical corporate environment and commercial operations
  • Ability to travel approximately 60% of the time, including air travel, overnight travel, and occasional weekend travel
  • Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to engage in person with HCPs and other third parties regularly
  • May be required to complete third-party credentialing and vaccination or entry requirements
