About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a trusted CFO advisor to real estate fund sponsors and general partners
- Develop financial models, forecasts, and performance insights for portfolio strategy, capital allocation, and hold/sell decisions
- Represent clients in strategic discussions with investors, lenders, and other stakeholders
- Lead financial oversight across real estate funds, investment entities, and properties
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and liquidity planning
- Oversee capital calls, distributions, capital accounts, preferred returns, and waterfall/promote calculations
- Lead investor reporting and performance measurement, including NAV, IRR, equity multiple, and cash-on-cash returns
- Provide financial leadership for acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and other significant transactions
- Advise on the financial and operational implications of LPAs, operating agreements, and side letters
- Oversee third-party fund administrators and service providers
- Establish and strengthen financial policies, processes, internal controls, and reporting practices
- Partner with legal and compliance professionals on Form ADV, Form PF, AUM calculations, regulatory examinations, and investor due diligence
- Lead annual audit and tax processes, coordinating financial statements, tax returns, and Schedule K-1s
- Improve financial operations, reporting, technology, and controls
- Serve as a senior client leader across multiple engagements and build trusted relationships
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 15+ years of accounting and finance experience
- Direct experience with real estate private equity fund structures, including fund of funds, joint ventures, and co-investment vehicles
- Experience with fund accounting and capital account maintenance
- Experience with waterfall or promote calculations
- Experience with US GAAP financial reporting for investment funds
- Experience with real estate debt structures, loan covenants, and financing processes
- CPA license preferred
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- Experience advising fund sponsors, general partners, or ownership on capital strategy, fund structuring, growth planning, or major financial decisions preferred
- Experience interpreting LPAs and side letters and applying economic provisions to accounting, allocations, and reporting preferred
- Experience working with third-party fund administrators, auditors, tax providers, and compliance professionals preferred
- Working knowledge of Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or Sage Intacct preferred
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling experience, particularly for real estate investments and fund-level scenarios preferred
