About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide multistate consulting and compliance services
- Technically review partnership and corporate state and local tax returns
- Address allocation, apportionment, modifications, nexus, unitary filings, and flow-through taxation
- Handle residency issues
- Provide sales tax consulting, including nexus and taxability studies
- Defend clients in audits
- Conduct research and writing
- Perform due diligence
- Coordinate and collaborate with in-house tax professionals and clients
- Review and consult on pass-through entity issues, including estimated payments, withholding, composite tax calculations, investor packages, state K-1s, grids, and related filings
- Research and analyze state tax legislation and its impact on clients
- Assist with tax consulting projects related to tax planning, restructuring, and accounting for income taxes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent field
- 8+ years of experience in state taxation
- Experience with state tax planning, tax research, and tax analysis
- CPA
- Experience with tiered flow-through entities and investment vehicles
- Master’s degree in Accounting or equivalent field (preferred/desired)
