About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Consult with and advise attorneys on injury cases using medical expertise
  • Analyze complex medical information and provide informed, objective opinions on medical-legal matters
  • Review and summarize medical records, communicating essential highlights and important details
  • Determine an injured party’s long-term medical requirements and estimate care costs
  • Prepare medical-record chronologies or timelines using approved client reporting templates
  • Objectively and honestly evaluate case facts
  • Research and cite medical resources and professional literature related to cases
  • Interact professionally with EKHS staff, medical-community members, and customers in oral and written forms
  • Perform all work within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, preferably in defense work
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar or related role preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Med-legal coursework preferred
  • Valid state-appropriate RN license in good standing with no restrictions
  • Active LNC Certification required, preferably AALNC
  • Professional and technical skills of a Registered Nurse
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • High comfort level with computers and computer programs (MS Word, MS Excel, Email)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment
  • Must be accurate and efficient
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must sit and keyboard for the majority of an 8-hour day, except lunch and break times
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to speak on the telephone intermittently throughout the day
  • Must read and write English fluently
  • Must provide and confirm a safe, HIPAA-compliant home office environment
  • DSL, fiber, or cable internet connection from home; 100 Mbps preferred or better
  • Proof of liability insurance required for independent contractor status
