About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Transform R&D portfolio management processes, tools, and evaluation capabilities
- Champion a single source of truth within the PPM ecosystem
- Guide PPM data improvements in partnership with R&D and IT
- Support rollout of a PPM Intelligence solution using real-time insights and AI capabilities
- Partner with the SPMO and Strategic Portfolio Leads to translate portfolio strategy into project priorities
- Reflect milestone shifts, resource constraints, and risk changes in valuation and prioritization models
- Synthesize Corporate Strategy, Innovation Strategy, and R&D inputs into a holistic portfolio view
- Develop and implement evaluation frameworks for R&D pipelines
- Recommend optimal resource allocations aligned with corporate strategic goals
- Perform portfolio prioritization and trade-off assessments
- Deliver recommendations to senior leadership on portfolio mix optimization
- Establish and maintain R&D portfolio health KPIs and executive dashboards
- Prepare decision-ready insights for the R&D Portfolio Governance Committee
- Translate quantitative findings into strategic recommendations
- Collaborate across R&D project teams, Finance, Commercial, and Corporate Strategy
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent level of experience)
- Minimum of 8–10+ years of progressive experience in R&D Project Management within the pharmaceutical or animal health industry
- Demonstrated experience in R&D Operations Portfolio Management or Strategic Planning within the life sciences sector
- Demonstrated experience guiding process improvement, capability-building, or transformation initiatives
- Strong financial acumen
- Expertise with large datasets, quantitative modeling, and business case formation
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency with portfolio management and BI tools, including Planisware, Tableau, Power BI, and Advanced Excel
- Preferred: Master's degree or MBA
- Experience managing global R&D portfolios
- Familiarity with drug development processes and regulatory landscapes
- Experience with enterprise PPM platforms, including Fluid, MS Project Online, and EPPM
- Experience with emerging AI/advanced evaluation tools applied to portfolio decision-making
- Proven track record in change management, stakeholder partnership, and driving broad organizational adoption of new processes and systems
- Travel: 10% (or as required for business needs)
