About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments to develop new chemical formulations, materials, or processes
  • Analyze, interpret, and document experimental results
  • Evaluate performance, stability, and feasibility of new products
  • Investigate new raw materials, technologies, and methodologies
  • Propose innovative solutions to technical challenges
  • Identify opportunities for product improvements or cost optimisations
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, and Commercial teams
  • Support scale-up activities and technology transfer to production sites
  • Prepare technical reports, product specifications, and safety documentation
  • Act as a subject-matter expert during customer trials, audits, or supplier engagements
  • Ensure laboratory work adheres to internal standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate records, equipment calibration, and good laboratory practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
  • Advanced expertise in surface/interfacial science, inorganic materials, functional coatings, and structure-property relationships
  • Experience with wet chemical formulation in either an academic or an industrial setting, ideally with multi-component inorganic or polymer systems desired
  • Familiarity with typical printed circuit board (PCB) chemical processes, including metallization, electroplating, etching, and final finish, desired
  • Familiarity with material characterization techniques, desired
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) platforms, such as Minitab
  • Strong knowledge of organic, inorganic, polymer, or physical chemistry
  • Experience in formulation chemistry, material science, or chemical process development
  • Proficiency with analytical instrumentation, including FTIR, GC/MS, HPLC, rheology, and thermal analysis
  • Ability to design experiments, analyse data, and draw scientifically sound conclusions
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as REACH and GHS and safety standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking ability
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams
