About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, direct, manage, and sustain environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs
- Manage regulatory affairs related to environmental, health and safety, and product liability issues for the Fremont, CA site and San Jose, CA research and development facility
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, safety, waste, transportation, water, air quality, emergency planning, fire protection, and process safety regulations
- Maintain facilities in EHS audit-ready condition
- Oversee and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems
- Develop and maintain written procedures and programs for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance and certification audits
- Conduct and lead Environmental Management Review Meetings
- Manage and oversee Health & Safety functions and assist HR with Workers Compensation management
- Support acquisition of regulatory permits by collaborating with external technical partners
- Supervise permitting, monitoring, data gathering, and reporting to government agencies
- Perform or arrange Environmental, Health and Safety, and Security training and inspection/audit programs
- Appraise upper management of significant Environmental, Health, and Safety issues
- Manage PPE requirements, including employee uniforms
- Drive environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability results for manufacturing and R&D facilities
- Champion change management initiatives and PSM for new processes
- Create and champion recycling initiatives that reduce waste, including ESG experience
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have Bachelor's degree (B. S.); eight to twelve years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of and drive for continuous improvement
- Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing certifications are a plus
- Experience working with capital projects from start-to-finish, including financial responsibility, project justification (NPV & IRR), and ownership
- Experience managing risk to identify leading EH&S indicators, including participation from all site personnel
- Experience with waste reduction and pollution abatement methodologies
- Experience creating and managing performance measurement processes (KPI’s) to verify EH&S effectiveness
- Experience championing facility collaboration in EH&S management best practices to reduce the silo effect
- Must have or be willing to obtain a 40 Hr HAZWOPER certification and Incident Command training within the first 6 months of employment
- Must have or be willing to obtain DOT, IMDG & IATA Hazardous Materials transportation certification within the first 6 months of employment
- CHMM certification is a plus
- Experience managing vendors and contractors to ensure efficacy
