About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and maintain visibility of the active audit-resolution exception pipeline
  • Prioritize time-sensitive defects, investor requests, audit responses, and outstanding documentation
  • Review and respond to Level 1–3 defects within the Audit Genius portal
  • Research defects and loan files to identify root causes and determine appropriate resolutions
  • Gather missing or corrective documentation and maintain accurate resolution records
  • Partner with Quality Control, Underwriting, Operations, Insuring, Repurchase, and other mortgage teams
  • Resolve critical errors and escalate issues requiring additional authority or expertise
  • Support repurchase demands and Investor Quality Control review issues
  • Research FHA documentation, 4506-C, PTF conditions, and other loan requirements
  • Communicate with borrowers, clients, real estate agents, settlement agents, and internal partners to obtain documentation
  • Identify recurring defects, process gaps, training opportunities, and operational risks
  • Develop and improve processes, job aids, training resources, quality checks, and preventative controls
  • Monitor turnaround times and drive open exceptions through final resolution
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, agency, investor, mortgage insurance, and company requirements
  • Protect confidential borrower and loan information

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED, or at least 3 years of professional work experience
  • Mortgage Operations experience at the Senior Processor or Junior Underwriter level
  • At least 1 year of experience with mortgage appeals and resolutions
  • Understanding of the mortgage loan lifecycle and how defects can originate across different stages of the process
  • Experience working with loan documentation, conditions, compliance requirements, and post-closing issues
  • Experience reading and interpreting DU and LP/LPA findings
  • Ability to research applicable agency, investor, mortgage insurance, and company requirements
  • Understanding of how underwriting findings and loan documentation affect audit and quality-control outcomes
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and determine necessary documentation or corrective action
  • At least 1 year of experience using Encompass
  • Experience with mortgage Loan Origination Systems and related operational technology
  • Comfortable learning and working within audit-resolution and quality-control platforms, including Audit Genius
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to research complex issues and identify root causes
  • Ability to manage multiple audit findings and competing priorities independently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work within established service-level and turnaround expectations
  • High level of integrity and commitment to accurate, compliant loan resolution
  • Understanding of investor, agency, mortgage insurance, and company requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with internal departments, leadership, clients, borrowers, settlement agents, real estate agents, and other parties
  • Ability to adapt quickly as priorities, audit findings, investor requirements, and business needs change
