About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the initial and main point of field contact between the Company and current and potential members
  • Provide timely and accurate resolution of inquiries and issues regarding benefits, services, and policies
  • Support and promote State Sponsored Programs through participation in community events
  • Represent State Sponsored Programs in community collaborations
  • Support member access to care through home visits, report processing, and distribution of collateral materials
  • Perform new member orientations
  • Take ownership of issues to ensure timely resolution or follow-up
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service
  • Address the cultural and linguistic needs of the Medicaid and SCHIP population
  • Work with community-based organizations, providers, plan members, and company associates
  • Handle calls, texts, facsimiles, and electronic queues while taking notes and speaking with customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • H.S. diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience
  • Must be a North Carolina resident
  • Ability to obtain a Community Health Worker Certification within the first 6 months of employment for Medicaid business units
  • Understanding of the basic principles of managed care and publicly financed health insurance such as Medicaid and SCHIP programs is preferred
  • Ability to multi-task while handling calls, texts, facsimiles, and electronic queues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Empathy and persistence in resolving caller issues
  • Comfort and proficiency with digital tools and platforms
  • Ability to maintain focus during extended periods of sitting and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work a structured schedule with occasional overtime or flexibility based on business needs
  • Ability to work from the office as necessary
