About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Screen, assess, train, and provide telephonic intervention/de-escalation for helpline callers using established protocols
- Take inbound calls, texts, and chats from individuals who may be in crisis
- Perform safety screenings and assessments to determine the presence and acuity of risk to the individual or others
- Understand individual needs and develop a plan of action collaboratively
- Complete timely and accurate documentation of interactions
- Provide linkage follow-up to ensure individuals access services
- Coordinate with agencies, organizations, individuals, and natural support systems to optimize resources
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable regulations
- Work varied first, second, and third shifts, including weekends, in a 24-hour call center operating 365 days per year
Requirements
What you’ll need- Candidates must reside in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or New York
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in behavioral health, or minimum of 6 months of direct crisis experience including screenings and assessments to determine appropriate interventions
- Any combination of education and experience providing an equivalent background
- Knowledge of behavioral health social services and insurance systems
- Understanding of factors impacting experiences in the mental health system
- Ability to perform screenings and assessments and determine appropriate interventions
- Ability to comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and other federal, state, and local regulations
- BS/BA degree in a mental health or other human services field and two years of direct behavioral health services experience strongly preferred
- Call center experience preferred
- Suicide and/or crisis line support experience preferred
- Bilingual candidates preferred
