About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Participate in all phases of the design and development life cycle of analytic applications and reporting tools
Maintain active relationships with customers to determine business requirements
Anticipate opportunities for improvement and identify alternate solutions
Collaborate with engineers on Web portals supporting interactive content
Analyze and classify complex change requests and evaluate possible enhancements
Define application scope and objectives and prepare functional or technical specifications
Analyze and evaluate detailed business and technical requirements
Code and maintain complex information-system components
Mentor others on coding standards and perform code reviews
Develop and perform system testing, fix defects, and re-execute unit tests
Integrate activities with other IT departments for successful implementation and project support
Support data information planning efforts
Maintain the technical development environment and implementation plan
Assist with training documentation and identify additional needs and enhancements
Manage small projects, mentor, and train others
Serve as subject matter expert for Business Intelligence applications
Establish connectivity to operations source systems and data repositories
Conduct data discovery to assess data strengths, limitations, and opportunities
Develop strategic reporting applications from the data warehouse using SQL
Maintain knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, and data integrity issues
Collaborate with database developers, data analysts, project managers, program managers, IT engineers, and external partners
Help performance-tune SQL queries for business-essential processes and service-level agreements

Requirements

What you’ll need

BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 3 years’ experience on one platform, or any combination of education and experience providing an equivalent background
Experience with multiple Business Intelligence tools, multi database, multi-language or multi business application preferred highly preferred
Familiarity with Amazon RedShift, Snowflake, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server, or equivalent database software highly preferred
Experience leading people, small projects and providing troubleshooting support highly preferred
Experience presenting technical subject matters to non-technical audiences highly preferred
Experience navigating new data models, both documented and undocumented, highly preferred
Ability to learn new subject matter and document effectively for broader team knowledge/use highly preferred
Professionalism, positivity, and solution-oriented communication and collaboration highly preferred
Ability to toggle effectively between several concurrent projects preferred
Proficiency in presenting team’s work in various forums preferred
Ability to train and mentor junior team members in advanced SQL query-writing and team standard operating procedures preferred
Familiarity with operations such as pharmacy, drug production, contact center, and manufacturing preferred
Familiarity with ETL coding via Python or ETL software such as Microsoft SSIS, or equivalent, preferred
Ability to work in-office 1–2 days per week and within reasonable commuting distance of a posting location
